DEFENCE

Very Short-Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) The Very Short-Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) is a man-portable air defence missile system (MANPADS), designed to be carried and operated by ground troops. The system has been indigenously developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) through its Research Centre Imarat. It is capable of detecting, engaging, and neutralising fast-moving aerial targets across different distances and altitudes, enhancing short-range air defence effectiveness. The missile system is planned for deployment with the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force, contributing to India’s multi-layered air defence network.
