    • Constituency Delimitation Amendments
    • 42nd Constitutional Amendment Act, 1976: Froze the allocation of seats to the States in the Lok Sabha and the division of each State into territorial constituencies based on the 1971 Census until the year 2000.
    • 84th Constitutional Amendment Act, 2001: Extended this freeze until the year 2026. Furthermore, it empowered the readjustment of constituencies based on the 1991 Census.
    • 87th Constitutional Amendment Act, 2003: Permitted the delimitation of constituencies based on the 2001 Census, without altering the number of seats allocated to each State in the Lok Sabha.
