INS Dhruv Context: The Indian Navy deployed its advanced missile-tracking and ocean surveillance ship INS Dhruv in the Arabian Sea just ahead of Pakistan’s scheduled live missile testing period. About INS Dhruv It is India’s first specialised vessel designed for tracking nuclear missiles and conducting ocean surveillance. It was constructed by Hindustan Shipyard Limited with support from Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO). Key Functions of INS Dhruv The vessel can map the seabed, which helps in studying and identifying enemy submarines. It serves as a highly confidential strategic platform capable of Monitoring ballistic missile launches Collecting electronic intelligence (ELINT) to strengthen India’s defence capabilities It plays a crucial role in Providing early alerts of missile threats Assisting in improving India’s ballistic missile defence systems*by analysing flight paths and impact behaviour Operational Control INS Dhruv is jointly operated by The Indian Navy National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO) Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Current Facts Constituency Delimitation Amendments 42nd Constitutional Amendment Act, 1976: Froze the allocation of seats to the States in the Lok Sabha and the division of each State into territorial constituencies based on the 1971 Census until the year 2000. 84th Constitutional Amendment Act, 2001: Extended this freeze until the year 2026. Furthermore, it empowered the readjustment of constituencies based on the 1991 Census. 87th Constitutional Amendment Act, 2003: Permitted the delimitation of constituencies based on the 2001 Census, without altering the number of seats allocated to each State in the Lok Sabha.
