- Context: The Central Government has announced that the Agni-VI missile an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of striking targets up to 10,000 kilometers away is poised to make history.
- The Agni Missile Series consists of solid-propelled ballistic missiles.
- These missiles are capable of operating across a wide range of distances, ranging from short-range missiles to Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs).
- Possessing road and rail mobility, these missiles have an enhanced chance of survivability during an enemy attack.
- The development of the Agni missile series began in the early 1980s as part of the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme (IGMDP).
- This project was spearheaded by former President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.
About Agni-VI
- The Agni-VI is another powerful intercontinental ballistic missile.

- It is currently reported to be in the initial stages of development at the laboratories of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
- It is expected to be the newest and most advanced variant in the Agni missile series.
- It is being designed with the capability to be launched from both land-based platforms and submarines.
- It will be capable of striking targets located at distances ranging from 6,000 to 10,000 kilometers.
- Furthermore, it will possess the capability to carry nuclear warheads equipped with Multiple Independently Targetable Reentry Vehicles (MIRVs), allowing it to strike multiple distinct targets simultaneously.

- Annal Ambedkar Overseas Higher Education Scholarship Scheme
- Scholarship of Rs.36.00 lakh per annum is provided to encourage students to undertake postgraduate and doctoral research studies in educational institutions abroad.
- Scholarship of Rs.36.00 lakh is given if the annual family income is below Rs.8.00 lakh. Scholarship of Rs.24.00 lakh is given if the family income limit is between Rs.8.00 lakh to Rs.12.00 lakh.
- The students should be enrolled in Universities of rank of up to 1000 in the QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) World University rankings.
- Graduate students must be under 35 years of age and full-time doctoral research students must be under 40 years of age on the first day of April (1st April) of the year of applying for scholarship.

- In the Anoop Baranwal v. Union of India judgment (March 2023), the Supreme Court ruled that appointments of the CEC and ECs should be made by a committee consisting of:

- Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha or leader of the largest Opposition party
- Chief Justice of India (CJI)
- Court stated that this arrangement would continue until Parliament enacted a law under Article 324(2) of the Constitution.
- Article 324(2) – The Election Commission shall consist of the Chief Election Commissioner and such number of other Election Commissioners, if any, as the President may from time to time fix and the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners shall, subject to the provisions of any law made in that behalf by Parliament, be made by the President.
