Agni-VI Context: The Central Government has announced that the Agni-VI missile an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of striking targets up to 10,000 kilometers away is poised to make history. The Agni Missile Series consists of solid-propelled ballistic missiles. These missiles are capable of operating across a wide range of distances, ranging from short-range missiles to Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs). Possessing road and rail mobility, these missiles have an enhanced chance of survivability during an enemy attack. The development of the Agni missile series began in the early 1980s as part of the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme (IGMDP). This project was spearheaded by former President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. About Agni-VI The Agni-VI is another powerful intercontinental ballistic missile. It is currently reported to be in the initial stages of development at the laboratories of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). It is expected to be the newest and most advanced variant in the Agni missile series. It is being designed with the capability to be launched from both land-based platforms and submarines. It will be capable of striking targets located at distances ranging from 6,000 to 10,000 kilometers. Furthermore, it will possess the capability to carry nuclear warheads equipped with Multiple Independently Targetable Reentry Vehicles (MIRVs), allowing it to strike multiple distinct targets simultaneously.   Current Facts Adi Dravidar Welfare Department The Adi Dravidar Welfare Department was created in 1988 as a separate department from the Social Welfare Department.
