Functions of the International Labour Conference
- Formulates and adopts international labour standards in the form of Conventions and Recommendations.
- Monitors the implementation of labour standards through its Committee on the Application of Standards.
- Approves the ILO’s biennial programme and budget and determines the contribution of member countries towards organizational expenses.
- Elects the members of the Governing Body.
- Admits new member states that are not part of the United Nations.
- Examines reports submitted by the Director-General and the Chairperson of the Governing Body.
- Passes resolutions that guide the ILO’s overall policies and shape its future activities.
