About Tetanus and Diphtheria Diseases
-
- Tetanus is caused by the bacterium Clostridium tetani. It is found in soil and animal waste.
- It enters the body through cuts and causes symptoms such as muscle stiffness, spasms, and “lockjaw.”
- In severe cases, it can be fatal. However, it can be prevented with vaccination and booster doses.
Diphtheria
- Caused by the bacterium Corynebacterium diphtheriae. It is spread through respiratory droplets.
-
- It can cause a coating in the throat that blocks breathing. If left untreated, it can affect the heart and nervous system.
