- Context: Union Minister for Jal Shakti, recently introduced the Sujal Gaon ID to strengthen digital monitoring of rural drinking water infrastructure.
About Sujal Gaon ID

- Sujal Gaon ID is a unique digital identification system designed to digitally map assets related to rural piped drinking water supply.
- These IDs have been created across 31 States and Union Territories and are connected to about 67,000 Sujalam Bharat IDs.
- Each Sujalam Bharat ID combines the infrastructure ID of a scheme and the service area ID, forming a complete digital record of rural water service delivery.
- The system is integrated with the Sujalam Bharat national digital architecture, enabling end-to-end mapping of the rural water supply chain from source to tap through unique IDs assigned to every village or service area.
- The initiative has been introduced by the Ministry of Jal Shakti under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

- The Jal Jeevan Mission was launched on 15 August 2019.
- Its objective is to provide safe and sufficient drinking water to all rural households through Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs).

Dumpsite Remediation Accelerator Programme (DRAP)
- Context: The Government of India has introduced the Dumpsite Remediation Accelerator Programme (DRAP) to speed up the removal of legacy waste dumpsites in cities across the country.
About DRAP
- DRAP is a one-year focused initiative aimed at quickly clearing long-standing waste dumps in urban areas.

- The programme adopts a systematic and accelerated strategy to eliminate large garbage dumps and recover the land for beneficial purposes such as parks, public amenities, and waste-management facilities.
- Launched in November 2025

- The programme is being carried out under Swachh Bharat Mission – Urban 2.0.
Objectives
- Ensure complete removal of dumpsites within one year after adoption.
- Speed up the treatment and disposal of legacy waste while preventing the formation of new dumping grounds.
- Restore valuable urban land and improve environmental quality and public health.
Key Features
- Contributes to the target of eliminating all dumpsites by September 2026 under SBM-U 2.0.
- The programme prioritises 214 large dumpsites located in 202 urban local bodies, which together hold around 80% of the country’s legacy waste.
- The Centre provides ₹550 per tonne as Central Financial Assistance (CFA) for treating legacy waste.

National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC)
- Context: NMDC Limited has achieved a milestone by becoming the first mining company in India to produce 50 million tonnes of iron ore in a single financial year (2025–26).

- Nivation refers to erosion around and beneath a snowbank caused by repeated freezing and thawing.
- This process forms nivation hollows, which deepen over time as snow repeatedly accumulates in the same place.
- Instability in such areas can suddenly release ice, meltwater, and debris, leading to hazards like flash floods.
Major Functions- Iron Ore Mining: Operates large-scale mechanised mines primarily in Chhattisgarh and Karnataka.
- Undertakes geological surveys and exploration activities to discover and assess mineral deposits.
- Diamond Mining: Manages India’s only mechanised diamond mine located in Panna.
- Uses scientific mining techniques and environmental management practices to ensure responsible resource extraction.
Samriddh Gram Phygital Services Pilot Project- Context: The Union Minister for Communications, will inaugurate the Samriddh Gram Phygital Services Pilot Project at Umri village.
About Samriddh Gram Phygital Services Initiative
- Samriddh Gram is a pilot initiative designed to deliver integrated services in rural areas through a “phygital” model, combining physical service centres with digital platforms.

- It plans to establish Samriddhi Kendras at the village level that will function as hubs for providing a range of citizen services using digital connectivity.
- Implemented by: Department of Telecommunications
- The project is built upon the digital infrastructure of BharatNet, one of the world’s largest rural broadband connectivity programmes.
- The initiative is being tested in three villages representing varied socio-economic conditions: Umri, Narakoduru, Chaurawala
- Each Samriddhi Kendra is planned to cater to several nearby villages within a radius of about 5 km.
Objectives
- To demonstrate how BharatNet connectivity can support the delivery of integrated government and public services at the village level.
- To create a scalable model for rural digital transformation by integrating digital infrastructure, governance services, and community participation.
- BharatNet Connectivity: Utilises high-speed rural broadband to ensure efficient digital service delivery.
