- Context: BBBP has evolved as a Nationwide Movement Driving Behavioural Change and Girl Child Empowerment. Over the years, India has strengthened maternal and early childhood care through a combination of health services, nutrition support, and institutional delivery systems.

Launch
- The scheme Beti Bachao Beti Padhao was launched on 22 January 2015.
- It was started to address the problem of low child sex ratio and gender discrimination against girls.
