Gyan Bharatam Mission
- Context: The Ministry of Culture has launched the ‘Gyan Bharatam Mission’ to survey, document, preserve, digitize, and make India’s manuscripts accessible to all.

- This mission aims to establish Cluster Centers (CC) and Independent Centers (IC) across the country.
- To date, more than 40 CC and IC centers have been integrated into this project.
- 28 States and Union Territories have joined as Nodal Coordinating Authorities to implement this project.
- Technical partners provide support for metadata creation, equipment installation, the Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform, and long-term data storage.
- The objective is to survey and digitize approximately 10 million (1 crore) manuscripts housed in educational institutions, museums, libraries, and private collections across the country.
- The digitized manuscripts will be stored with centralized access through the National Digital Repository (NDR).
- The National Archives of India (NAI) is undertaking the task of digitizing historical records.
- A Checksum verification method is employed to ensure the integrity and immutability of the data.
