Gyan Bharatam Mission Context: The Ministry of Culture has launched the 'Gyan Bharatam Mission' to survey, document, preserve, digitize, and make India's manuscripts accessible to all. This mission aims to establish Cluster Centers (CC) and Independent Centers (IC) across the country. To date, more than 40 CC and IC centers have been integrated into this project. 28 States and Union Territories have joined as Nodal Coordinating Authorities to implement this project. Technical partners provide support for metadata creation, equipment installation, the Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform, and long-term data storage. The objective is to survey and digitize approximately 10 million (1 crore) manuscripts housed in educational institutions, museums, libraries, and private collections across the country. The digitized manuscripts will be stored with centralized access through the National Digital Repository (NDR). The National Archives of India (NAI) is undertaking the task of digitizing historical records. A Checksum verification method is employed to ensure the integrity and immutability of the data.
