- Context : National Highways Authority of India released the National Highways Green Cover Index (NH-GCI) 2025–26 annual report.
National Highways Green Cover Index
- It is an initiative of National Highways Authority of India.
- The report was prepared with National Remote Sensing Centre of Indian Space Research Organisation.
- The assessment uses high-resolution satellite sensors to detect chlorophyll content.
- NH-GCI shows the percentage of green cover within the Right of Way (RoW) of highways for every 1 km stretch.
- The first assessment covered about 30,000 km of highways across 24 states during July–December 2024.
