National Highways Green Cover Index (NH-GCI) 2025–26 Context : National Highways Authority of India released the National Highways Green Cover Index (NH-GCI) 2025–26 annual report. National Highways Green Cover Index It is an initiative of National Highways Authority of India. The report was prepared with National Remote Sensing Centre of Indian Space Research Organisation. The assessment uses high-resolution satellite sensors to detect chlorophyll content. NH-GCI shows the percentage of green cover within the Right of Way (RoW) of highways for every 1 km stretch. The first assessment covered about 30,000 km of highways across 24 states during July–December 2024.
