Divyang Sahara Yojana and Divyangjan Kaushal Yojana Context : In a post-Budget webinar, PM highlighted the Divyang Sahara Yojana and Divyangjan Kaushal Yojana. Both schemes were introduced in the Union Budget 2026–27 under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Divyang Sahara Yojana The scheme aims to provide affordable access to modern assistive devices to empower persons with disabilities (Divyangjan). It will support the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) in increasing production while integrating AI and advanced technologies. Retail-style centres will be set up where beneficiaries can see, test, and choose assistive devices according to their needs. Existing Pradhan Mantri Divyasha-Vayoshri Kendras (PMDVKs) will be expanded to provide assessment, customization, and maintenance services. Divyangjan Kaushal Yojana The scheme provides industry-relevant skill training to create dignified livelihood opportunities for persons with disabilities (Divyangjans). It focuses on sectors such as Information Technology (IT), Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC), hospitality, and food & beverages. Skill-training registration under the scheme is integrated with the PM-DAKSH Portal of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD).
