Environment and Econology Study on Dhole or Asiatic wild dog The dhole or Asiatic wild dog (Cuon alpinus) is the endangered animal living in the tropical Indian forests and is considered at high risk of extinction. The study conducted at Manas National Park in Assam revealed that overlapping prey availability or habitat suitability dictate a positive association between dholes and tigers, facilitating coexistence or even cooperative behaviours between the two species of carnivores, a new study has found. It revealed that the diurnal activity of the dholes had the highest temporal overlap with leopards. About Dhole or Asiatic wild dog IUCN Status – Endangered. Protected under Schedule II of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
