Global Terrorism Index 2026 Context: The 2026 Global Terrorism Index (GTI) was released by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), an independent non-profit think tank based in Sydney. Pakistan recorded the highest impact from terrorism, ranking first on the index. Nearly 70% of global terrorism-related fatalities occurred in just five countries: Pakistan, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Niger, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). India ranked 13th on the Global Terrorism Index.
