TheUnited Nations has announced to celebrate International Tea Day on 21 May, accepting India's recommendation. India proposed it about four years ago. India presented this proposal at the meeting of the International Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)inter-governmental group held in Milan. The United Nations says that declaring May 21 as International Tea Day will help in increasing its production and consumption. In addition, the United Nations General Assemblyhas recognized the tea's medicinal properties as well as cultural importance. The United Nations has urged all member countries, international and regional organizations to celebrate International Tea Day on 21 May every year.
Vijay Diwas is celebrated – 16 December
Vijay Diwasis celebrated on December 16 every year to commemorate India’s victory over Pakistan in 1971. India had defeated Pakistan in this war. Another fact is that Bangladesh was born on this day. Bangladesh celebrates its independence day on December 16 every year. What is Vijay Diwas? The Government of India decided on December 03, 1971, that India would go for war with Pakistan to save Bengali Muslims and Hindus. This war was fought between India and Pakistan for 13 days only. But, the Pakistani army surrendered before India with 93,000 soldiers. It was the Indian Army’s one of the biggest victories ever made against Pakistan.
President remembers Parliament attack martyrs on 18th anniversary
On the morning of December 13 in 2001, five JeM and LeT terrorists entered Parliament complex and opened indiscriminate fire. The gunmen were carrying AK-47 rifles, grenade launchers, pistols and grenades. The attack in 2001 lasted around 40 minutes after the Parliament was adjourned for the day. While the Houses were adjourned at the time of the attack, some 100 parliamentarians and staff were still inside the building.
