Latest inventions in science and technology India’s First Repository for Psychiatric Disorders: CALM-Brain  Context: With the aim of enhancing research, diagnosis, and treatment of mental illnesses, India has launched CALM-Brain the country's first digital data repository. About CALM-Brain CALM-Brain is an acronym for the 'Comprehensive Data Repository on Brain Structure and Function in Psychiatric Disorders.' It has been jointly developed by NIMHANS, the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), and the Rohini Nilekani Centre for Brain and Mind. By utilizing large-scale datasets, it aims to improve the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders. It covers major conditions such as substance addiction, bipolar disorder, dementia, OCD, and schizophrenia. It seeks to identify biomarkers and biological mechanisms to facilitate early diagnosis and personalized treatment. NIMHANS The National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences is located in Bengaluru, Karnataka. It was established under the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, Bengaluru Act, 2012. It functions as the apex center for mental health and neuroscience education in India, serving as a premier medical and research institution with autonomous status.
