Important Days World Soil Day – December 5 World Soil Day (WSD) is observed every year to focus attention on the importance of healthy soil and advocating for the sustainable management of soil resources. The day was first observed in 2014. Theme 2023: Soil and water, a source of life Sports International Tennis Hall of Fame Leander Paes, Vijay Amritraj and Richard Evans were inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame as a part of the class of 2024. Paes and Amritraj have become the 1st two Indians to receive the honours. With this, India has become the 28th nation represented in the Hall of Fame. BCCI Retires Jersey Number 7 The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the retirement of the former Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s iconic jersey number “7” to honour his achievements in Indian cricket. MS Dhoni becomes the second Indian to be given this honour after Sachin Tendulkar, whose jersey number “10” was retired in 2017 Cultural Panorama 54th International Film Festival of India The 54th International Film Festival of India organised by the National Film Development Corporation, and Entertainment Society of Goa. Close to 270 films from 105 countries were screened in a week in 12 halls at four venues in Goa.
