Initiatives/ Schemes Kalaignar Kanavu Illam Scheme Context:  The Chief Minister announced that a total of 7 lakh houses will be built for the poor in Tamil Nadu by 2030. Under the "Kalaignar Kanavu Illam" scheme, 5 lakh houses will be built in rural areas and 2 lakh houses in urban areas by 2030. Development Plans of TN government  Under the "Nalamudan Tamil Nadu 2030" plan, steps will be taken to provide adequate health insurance to all and special medical camps will be held for early detection of diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer. Special measures will be taken to reduce maternal mortality and mental health counseling centers will be set up in every district. In the agriculture sector, it is planned to increase the net cultivation area to 50 lakh hectares and provide soil health cards to 43 lakh farmers. Organic farming will be expanded to 17,000 hectares and bio-farming to one lakh hectares. To improve water conservation, micro-irrigation will be expanded to 21 lakh hectares and 1,000 rainwater harvesting structures will be set up in the Western and Eastern Ghats. Steps will be taken to increase food production to 125 lakh metric tons. 1,000 model schools will be expanded under the "Vetri palligal Scheme". In all government and government-aided schools Smart classrooms will be set up and steps will be taken to increase the enrollment rate in higher education to 90 percent by 2030. Artificial intelligence technologies will be introduced in the education sector and AI labs will be set up in every educational institution. It was said that steps will be taken to provide housing land patta to every Adi Dravidian and tribal family without a house. It was announced that a new scheme called “Uttamar Gandhi Model Villages” will be introduced to improve rural development.…
