The initiative focuses on sustainable railway operations through wastewater treatment and reuse. The depot saves around 1.60 lakh litres of water daily, equivalent to over 300 household tanks. Water used in coach washing and maintenance is treated and recycled instead of being discharged. The core technology used is Phytoremediation, which uses plants to naturally purify water. The treatment process includes wetland-based purification, followed by carbon and sand filtration, and UV disinfection. The treated water is safely reused for operational purposes within the depot.
