Lokayukta Member Appointment Former Madras High Court Judge R. Hemalatha has been appointed as the Judicial Member of the Lokayukta. Governor R.N. Ravi has issued an order in this regard. As a Judicial Member, he will hold office for a period of five years. In 1966, the Administrative Reforms Commission (ARC) headed by Morarji Desai was set up to recommend institutions for addressing citizens’ grievances against administrative errors and abuses by the Union, States, and other authorities. Tamil Nadu Lokayukta Act, 2018 The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly has passed the Tamil Nadu Lokayukta Act, 2018 under section 63 of the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013. This Act came into force on 13.11.2018. The Tamil Nadu Lokayukta is an independent quasi-judicial body constituted under the above Act. Aim: To investigate allegations of corruption against certain categories of government servants and matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
