MAHA Water Mission Context: The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) and the Ministry of Jal Shakti jointly launched the MAHA Water Mission. Total outlay: ₹200 crore. Objective To promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the water sector. To accelerate the development and deployment of advanced water technologies. To strengthen India's long-term water security. Priority Themes The mission focuses on five key areas: Water resource assessment and sustainable management Drinking water Water quality and ecological health Water-use efficiency and circular economy Climate resilience and adaptation MAHA Missions ANRF has launched Missions for Advancement in High-impact Areas (MAHA) in sectors such as: Electric Vehicles, Drones, Medical Technologies, 6G Communications, Water. Significance Encourages research-driven innovation in water management. Strengthens collaboration between academia, industry, startups and government.
