National Green Tribunal The Zonal Bench of the National Green Tribunal in Chennai organised the Regional Conference on Environment 2025 on 6 and 7 December. The two-day event aims to strengthen institutional cooperation and advance a shared regional vision for environmental protection and sustainable development. About National Green Tribunal The National Green Tribunal (NGT) was established on October 18, 2010, under the National Green Tribunal Act, 2010, to expedite environmental justice in India. As a specialized body, the NGT is dedicated to handling cases related to environmental protection, forest conservation, and the enforcement of legal rights associated with the environment, including compensation for damages to individuals and property from environmental violations. The tribunal also covers issues related to accidental health impacts from environmental causes. The NGT operates with a six-month case disposal target, guided by principles of natural justice.
