It is responsible for the overall development of the jute sector. The Board is governed under the 'National Jute Board Act, 2008'. It formally came into effect on February 12, 2009. Objectives To increase the share of Indian jute products in the global market by identifying innovative applications for jute products and by disseminating new technologies. National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture Context: Under the National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture, the government has set a target to bring 100 lakh hectares of land under micro-irrigation coverage during the five-year period from 2025-26 to 2029.
