National Jute Board  Context: With the aim of modernizing crop monitoring, the National Jute Board has expanded the operations of the 'Jute Crop Information System' (JCIS) a technology-based platform developed in collaboration with ISRO. About the National Jute Board  The National Jute Board is an apex body functioning under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. It is responsible for the overall development of the jute sector. The Board is governed under the 'National Jute Board Act, 2008'. It formally came into effect on February 12, 2009. Objectives To increase the share of Indian jute products in the global market by identifying innovative applications for jute products and by disseminating new technologies. To promote the growth of the jute industry through human resource development, training, and design-related inputs.   National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture  Context: Under the National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture, the government has set a target to bring 100 lakh hectares of land under micro-irrigation coverage during the five-year period from 2025-26 to 2029. Details regarding the National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture It was launched in 2014-15 under the framework of the 'National Action Plan on Climate Change' (NAPCC). It was designed as a strategic initiative to mitigate the adverse effects of climate variability on agriculture, while simultaneously ensuring long-term food and livelihood security. Since 2022-23, it has been subsumed under the umbrella scheme of the 'Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana' (PMRKVY). It promotes climate-resilient agricultural practices through a set of specific, target-oriented, and integrated interventions. It lays a strong foundation for sustainable agricultural growth by enhancing water-use efficiency, improving soil health, and strengthening climate-resilient agriculture.
