Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad) Background:A consultative meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad) alliance is scheduled to take place in India next week. The Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad) alliance comprises four nations: India, the United States, Australia, and Japan. This alliance operates with the primary objective of promoting peace, security, and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. While one of the member nations assumes the leadership of the alliance each year, India is holding the chairmanship for the current year. National One Health Mission Context:The Fifth Meeting of the Scientific Steering Committee on One Health was held in New Delhi. One Health mission focuses on national preparedness against emerging public health threats. About the National One Health Mission The National One Health Mission is a collaborative multi-sector initiative that seeks to integrate human health, animal health, wildlife health, and environmental health systems for stronger disease surveillance, diagnostic capacity, and coordinated outbreak management. Vision:The mission aims to create a unified framework for disease prevention and pandemic preparedness in India by promoting cooperation among the human, animal, and environmental sectors.  Approval :The mission was approved by the Prime Minister's Science, Technology, and Innovation Advisory Council during its 21st meeting held in 2022. Nodal Agency:The initiative is coordinated by the Indian Council of Medical Research under the guidance of the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA). Anchor Institution:The National Institute of One Health,Nagpur Operational Tools of One Health Animal Vaccination: Large-scale vaccination reduces zoonotic disease spread. Veterinary Surveillance: Regular livestock monitoring helps identify outbreaks early. Medicine Regulation: Controlled use of animal drugs limits resistance and environmental harm. Sanitation Measures: Proper disposal of waste and carcasses prevents vector-borne diseases.
