National Tiger Census India launched its National Tiger Census on 14 December 2025, conducted every four years. Aim: To scientifically assess the population, distribution, and movement of Bengal tigers across major forest areas and reserves in the country. The exercise emphasizes modern technology and rigorous scientific methods to ensure accurate results. Corbett Tiger Reserve is a major focus area. Uttarakhand recorded 560 tigers in the last count. Environment and ecology  Animal Exchange Programme The Bannerghatta Biological Park, Karnataka has imported eight black-capped capuchin monkeys from South Africa. Aim: To enhance genetic diversity and strengthen conservation-oriented zoological management. Scientifically known as Sapajus paella. Central Zoo Authority approval is mandatory for international animal transfer. IUCN: Least Concern
