PM E-DRIVE Scheme Context: The Centre may roll out a fresh electric bus scheme for States after completing the tendering and allocation of all 14,000 buses under the PM E-DRIVE programme, About PM E-DRIVE Scheme The PM E-DRIVE (Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement) programme, introduced in October 2024 and operational from October 1, 2024,  It is a major government initiative aimed at boosting the adoption of electric mobility in India.  Its core purpose is to promote the use of electric vehicles (EVs), expand charging infrastructure, and strengthen the domestic EV manufacturing ecosystem. The scheme focuses on accelerating the shift toward EVs by providing upfront financial incentives for buyers and encouraging the development of widespread charging facilities. Key Components of the Scheme Financial support is offered for the purchase of various electric vehicles, including electric two-wheelers (e-2W), three-wheelers (e-3W), e-ambulances, e-trucks, and other emerging EV segments. Funds are allocated for procuring electric buses, setting up a large-scale charging network, and modernizing testing infrastructure under the Ministry of Heavy Industries. Covers administrative expenses, Information, Education & Communication (IEC) activities, and fees for the Project Management Agency (PMA). Eligibility Criteria Be registered as motor vehicles under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR). Use advanced battery technologies.

Introduced in 2022 under Mission Shakti, it was formed by combining the Swadhar Greh and Ujjawala schemes. Objective Its main aim is to offer safe accommodation along with rehabilitation assistance to women in distress. It is a centrally sponsored, demand-based programme that is implemented by States and Union Territories. The scheme provides essential support such as shelter, food, medical care, legal assistance, counselling, and rehabilitation services. Its implementation is tracked through field inspections, review meetings, and the Mission Shakti Dashboard. About Mission Shakti Mission Shakti, launched in 2022 by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, is an umbrella initiative focused on women’s welfare. This programme is also a centrally sponsored scheme, implemented through coordination between the Centre and the States to ensure broader outreach and effectiveness.
