Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) Context: The 'Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana' (PMKSY) has been operational for over a decade, driving irrigation-led agricultural transformation through sustainable water management and the expansion of irrigation coverage. About PMKSY Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) is a flagship irrigation scheme launched in 2015. The scheme is based on the visions of "Har Khet Ko Pani" (Water to every field) and "Per Drop More Crop" (Higher yield per drop of water). Its primary objective is to enhance irrigation facilities and ensure the efficient use of water from the source to the field. The scheme adopts an integrated approach, involving the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Jal Shakti, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, and the Ministry of Rural Development. PMKSY has been active for over 10 years in improving irrigation, water management, and agricultural productivity. Components of PMKSY Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) Facilitates the timely completion of major and medium irrigation projects. Enhances irrigation infrastructure and increases water availability for agriculture. Since 2016–17, the scheme has received over ₹21,023 crore in central assistance. Approximately 1.73 crore (17.3 million) farmers have benefited from this scheme. The newly approved 'Command Area Development and Water Management Modernization' (M-CADWM) scheme supplies water through pressurized pipe networks and micro-irrigation systems. Har Khet Ko Pani (HKKP) Aims to provide assured irrigation facilities by developing minor irrigation and groundwater resources. Supports the Repair, Renovation, and Restoration (RRR) of traditional water bodies. Over 3,462 surface minor irrigation and RRR projects have been completed. Catchment Area Development Component Focuses on integrated catchment area management in rain-fed and resource-poor areas. Helps conserve soil moisture and recharge groundwater. Enhances climate resilience and supports sustainable agriculture. Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) Promotes micro-irrigation methods such as drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation. Since…
