Important days April 5- National Maritime Day Each year, India celebrates National Maritime Day on April 5 to commemorate India's first merchant sea voyage in the trading world. The day was first celebrated in the year 1964. Defence 'SLINEX-2023' The 10th edition of anuual SLINEX-2023 bilateral maritime exercise between India and Sri Lanka has commenced in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The exercise will be conducted from 03-08 April 2023. The exercise is divided into two phases, the Harbour Phase and the Sea Phase, each lasting three days. The Indian Navy is represented by INS Kiltan and INS Savitri. SLINEX is being organised since 2005. The aim of the exercise is to enhance inter-operability, improve mutual understanding, and exchange best practices and procedures in multi-faceted maritime operations between both navies.
