Veeramangai Rani Velu Nachiyar Born: January 3, 1730, Ramanathapuram Parents: Father – Sellamuthu Vijayaragunatha Sethupathi, Mother – Sakkanthi Muthaathal Nachiyar. From a young age, she mastered martial arts such as swordsmanship, archery, spear throwing, and horse riding. In 1746, she married Muthuvaduganatha, the king of Sivaganga. Key event: In 1772, Muthuvaduganatha died a heroic death in the Kalaiyar Kovil battle against the British. Struggle against the British: She fought with the support of Hyder Ali, Tipu Sultan, and Dindigul Gopal Nayakkar. In 1780, she recaptured the Sivaganga kingdom from the British. She ruled the Sivaganga kingdom effectively for 16 years. The "first Indian female freedom fighter" to oppose the British. Died: December 25, 1796 Veerapandiya Kattabomman Kattabomman was born on January 3, 1760. His father was Jagaveera Pandiyan, his mother was Arumugathammal, his wife was Jakkammal, and his brothers were Oomathurai (Kumarasamy) and Sevathaiah. The British forces defeated Kattabomman in the Battle of Kollarpatti. Later, Kattabomman was captured from the Kalappur forest by the king of Pudukkottai, Vijaya Raghunatha Thondaiman, and handed over to the British. Kattabomman was hanged at Kayathar on October 16, 1799.
