Important Days World Crocodile Day ▪ World Crocodile Day is celebrated on June 17 every year to highlight the importance of conservation of endangered crocodiles and alligators around the world. ▪ India has three crocodile species ✓ Saltwater Crocodile ✓ Mugger or Marsh Crocodile ✓ Gharial ▪ Crocodile Conservation Project was first launched in India in Odisha's Bhitarkanika National Park in 1975. ▪ It was launched with the assistance of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the UN's Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO)
