World Heritage Day Every year on April 18, the world observes World Heritage Day, also called the International Day for Monuments and Sites. The theme for World Heritage Day 2026 is “Emergency Response for Living Heritage in Contexts of Conflicts and Disasters.”   Current Facts Women's Reservation Bill  The 106th Amendment Act, 2023 This Act is known as the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam' or the 'Women's Reservation Act'. This Act provides for a one-third (33%) reservation of seats for women in the Lok Sabha, State Legislative Assemblies, and the Legislative Assembly of Delhi. Reservation for women is also provided within the constituencies already reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST). It was introduced with the objective of strengthening women's political representation in elected bodies. This Act will not come into force immediately; it will become operational only after the next delimitation exercise and the subsequent census data become available. The reserved constituencies will be rotated periodically. This reservation applies only to the directly elected Lower Houses (Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies); it does not apply to the Rajya Sabha or the State Legislative Councils (Upper Houses). This Bill had been introduced multiple times since 1996 and was finally passed in 2023 with strong support from the Parliament.  Key Features of the 106th Constitutional Amendment Act Article 239AA: Reservation of one-third (33%) of seats for women in the Legislative Assembly of Delhi. Article 330A: Reservation of one-third of seats for women in the Lok Sabha. This includes seats reserved for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST).
