Tamil Nadu’s Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) Registry
- State-level Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) Registry launched in August 2024 under National Health Mission (NHM) – Tamil Nadu.
- Children receiving treatment in both government and private hospitals are included.
- Significance
- To improve survival rates, ensure continued care, and enhance the quality of life for children and adolescents.
National Health Mission
- National Health Mission (NHM) was launched in 2013 subsuming the National Rural & Urban Health Mission.
- Its centrally sponsored scheme.
- Fund Sharing: 60:40 between central government and states, 90:10 for north eastern states.
- Nodal Ministry: Ministry of Health & Family Welfare
- Aim: “Universal access to equitable, affordable and quality health care services, accountable and responsive to people’s needs”.
Initiative & Schemes
ELCOT–Perplexity AI MoU
- To provide training to college students in Tamil Nadu in Perplexity Pro AI.
- Training for six months free of cost.
Environment
Marine Elite Protection Force
- The Marine Elite Protection Force was launched to protect and monitor marine resources.
- It provides protection to endangered species such as the Olive Ridley sea turtle, dolphins, and dugongs.
- It focuses primarily on enforcing the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
