Awards and Honours Smart Cities Award Contest (ISAC), 2022. The ISAC awards for 2022 is organised under the Smart Cities Mission by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. This is the fourth edition of the ISAC awards. Award Winners Best Smart City Category First - Indore (Madhya Pradesh) Second - Surat (Gujarat) Third – Agra (Uttar Pradesh) Best State Category   First - Madhya Pradesh Second – Tamil Nadu Third - Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh Best Union Territory – Chandigarh Note There were no awards in 2021 because of the COVID19 pandemic About Smart Cities Mission Launched - 25 June, 2015 Objective - to promote cities that provide core infrastructure and give a decent quality of life to its citizens, a clean and sustainable environment through the application of 'Smart' solutions. 100 cities – selected through a two-stage competition.   Sports and Games 53rd ISSF World Shooting Championships 2023 (Baku, Azerbaijan) Tiyana Phogat, Sakshi Suryavanshi and Kirandeep Kaur won gold medal in 50m Free Pistol Event. India completed second on the medals table in the World Championship. Medal Tally First – China Second - India Third - USA Note The Event also serves as a qualification event for 2024 Summer Olympics.

NATIONAL DIARY OF EVENTS

India will be contributing 33% of the world's total Milk production by 2033 to 2034. The 49th Dairy Industry Conference organized by the Indian Dairy Association (IDA) on the theme 'India dairy to the world: Opportunities and challenges'. India's dairy sector has grown by 6.6 % annually in the past decade. India's milk processing capacity is about 126 million litres per day, which is the highest in the world. Awards and Honours Carnatic vocalist Bombay Jayashri has been selected for the Sangita Kalanidhi award of the Music Academy for 2023. The Nritya Kalanidhi award for dance will go to Vasanthalakshmi Narasimhachari. About Sangita Kalanidhi award: It came into existence in 1942. The award is conferred by the Madras Music Academy. It is considered the highest award in the field of Carnatic music. The award comprises of a gold medal and a citation. Indian Railways: Indian Railways is set to launch its 11th Vande Bharat Express train this month. The new semi-high speed train will run between New Delhi and Jaipur. The train is likely to be introduced in the third week of March, 2023 (after March 20, 2023). About Vande Bharat: It is India’s first indigenously built engineless semi-high speed train. Earlier, it was known by the name Train 18. It has been built by the Integral Coach Factory, Chennai. The train is a 100% ‘Make in India’ project. CM hands out awards to Tamil scholars

Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami handed over the Thiruvalluvar Award for 2020 and the Thanthai Periyar Award for 2019 to N.Nithyanandha Bharathi and former Union Minister Gingee N.Ramachandran (who had quit the MDMK and joined the AIADMK), respectively, at an event in Chennai. The Annal Ambedkar Award was given to K.Arjunan, and the Perarignar Anna Award to K. Samarasam (AIADMK spokesperson). The CM also handed over the Perunthalaivar Kamarasar Award and the Mahakavi Bharathiyar Award to M.S. Mathivanan and P. Sivaraji respectively. Thenisai Chellappa and S. Sundararajan received the Pavendhar Bharathidasan Award and the Thamizhthendral Award respectively. Manimekalai Kannan received the Muthamizh Kavalar K.A.P. Viswanatham Award. The Thamizhthai Award for 2019 went to Chicago Tamil Sangam. Other award winners are: poet Vetriyazhagan (Kabilar Award), V. Mahadevan (U. Ve. Sa. Award), Saraswathi Ramanathan (Kambar Award) and Kavidasan (Sollin Selvar Award). Umaruppulavar Award went to Liakath Ali Khan and G.U. Pope Award was conferred on Maria Joseph Xavier. Gnanaselvan alias Thirugnanasambandham won the Ilango Adigal award and Amma Literary Award went to Umayal Muthu respectively. Sinthanai Sirpi Singaravelar Award was handed over to Ashoka Subramanian alias S.K. Subramanian and Maraimalai Adigalar Award went to P. Muthukumaraswamy. Ayothidas Pandithar Award was awarded to V. Prabhakaran. Awards for Best Translation were handed over to S. Mohammad Yousuf, K.J. Masthan Ali, Siva. Murugesan, N.Kadikasalam, Marabin Maindhan, Vatsala, Murugudurai, Malan alias V. Narayanan, Kirusangini alias Brinda Nagarajan and A. Mathivanan. Chief Minister's Tamil Computing Award for 2018 was conferred on T. Nagarajan. Under the World Tamil Sangam, Madurai awards for 2019, P. Rajendran of Malaysia got the literary award, Muthu Kasturibai was handed over the grammar award and Subhathini Ramesh was conferred on with linguistic award. Tamil Nadu getd 13 awards for rural development

The Tamil Nadu rural development department received 13 awards from the centre of effective implementation of rural development schemes, including MGNREGA, the 100- day job guarantee scheme. The state received awards in the category of state, district, panchayat union and village panchayats in programmes like MGNREGA, National Rurban Mission and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalay Yojana. The rural development department received 31 national awards this fiscal.

Portugal sets up Gandhi prize

Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa announced the setting up of a Gandhi Citizenship Education Prizewhile attending the second meeting of Nationla Committee for the Commemoration Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th Birth Anniversary, chaired by president Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapathi Bhavan. The prize would be inspired by Gandhi’s thoughts and quotes, he said, adding that the first edition of the prize would be dedicated to animal welfare.
