Central Government has decided to deploy drones to destroy hidden Marijuana plants

The central Government has decided to deploy drones to destroy marijuana plantations before it reaches the hands of the drug cartels. The decision has been taken by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Key Points: The Centre has planned to use satellites to detect marijuana crops and then the crops will be destroyed by the drones by spraying chemicals. The Government focuses on states like Himachal Pradesh (HP), Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Bihar, Tamil Nadu (TN), Andhra Pradesh (AP), Uttar Pradesh (UP), Madhya Pradesh (MP), West Bengal (WB), Rajasthan and Haryana. India is following the modus operandi adopted by the United States (US) that deals with marijuana plantations. The US authorities have been using airplanes and drones to detect and destroy illegal plantations. In 2018, 24,000 cases have been seized containing 414 tons of plants.
