Important Days National Handloom Day – August 7 Theme 2023 – “Handlooms for Sustainable Fashion” It honours the Swadeshi Movement, which began on this day in 1905 in Calcutta Town Hall. The Swadeshi Movement, inspired by Bal Gangadhar Tilak's Swadeshi doctrine, aimed to boycott foreign goods, promote self-sufficiency and revive domestic production.
