Important Days Kargil Vijay Diwas – July 26 Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year on 26th July to celebrate the pride and valour of the soldiers who took part in Operation Vijay. The day commemorates the victory of the Indian Armed Forces in the Kargil War of 1999. Sports and Games Torch design for 2024 Paris Olympics unveiled Paris Olympics organisers unveiled Frenchman Mathieu Lehanneur’s torch design that mark the year-to-go countdown to the July 26 opening in 2024. Organisers said 2,000 torches are being produced from recycled steel. Each one weighs 1.5 kg and is 70 cm tall. Books & Authors Sahitya Akademi Book Thiru M. Rajendran, former Vice-Chancellor of Tamil University, Thanjavur called on the Honble Chief Minister and presented the book titled ‘India Ilakkiya Sirpigal - Kalaignar Mu.
