First World Yogasana Championship 2026 

    • CONTEXT:Prime Minister inaugurated the First World Yogasana Championship 2026 in Ahmedabad
    • The event marks a significant milestone in promoting Yogasana as a competitive sport at the global level and is being held shortly before International Yoga Day 2026.
  • The championship is the first global sporting event exclusively dedicated to Yogasana.
    • As India’s first UNESCO World Heritage City, Ahmedabad represents the country’s rich cultural traditions and heritage.
    • The championship is being organized in the lead-up to International Yoga Day, observed annually on 21 June.
  • The theme for International Yoga Day 2026 is “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”.

National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) 

  • CONTEXT:The West Bengal Legislative Assembly signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the implementation of the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), becoming the 33rd legislature in the country to join the Centre’s flagship initiative aimed at digitising legislative functioning.

About National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) 

    • NeVA project officially approved by the Public Investment Board on January 15, 2020.
    • NeVA is a digital project by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
    • It aims to make the work of all State and UT legislatures online and paperless.
  • It is one of the 44 Mission Mode Projects (MMPs) under the Digital India Programme of the Government of India.
  • It follows the idea of “One Nation – One Application.”

Main Features:

  • Runs on secure NIC MeghRaj Cloud.
  • Provides e-Books for members.
  • Allows e-Attendance and e-Voting.
  • Stores all legislative work in digital form.
  • Includes notices, questions, business lists, calendars, and press releases.
  • Offers live webcasting of proceedings.
  • Can be accessed on mobile phones by members and ministers.

Implementation & Funding:

    • Funded by the central government for all states and UTs.
  • Nagaland was the first to implement NeVA.
  • Himachal Pradesh was the first to go paperless (2014), saving ₹5.08 crores every year.

 

Viksit Vibrant Village Programme (VVVP) 

  • CONTEXT: The Department of Youth Affairs, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, has started the first phase of the VVVP 2026 through Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat).

About the Programme:

  • The Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP) was initially announced in the Union Budget 2022-23 and officially launched in 2023 (specifically on April 10, 2023).
  • It is a youth-driven programme focused on developing border villages.
    • It aims to increase local participation, strengthen national unity, and support sustainable growth in these areas.
  • It is carried out with the help of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

Objectives of the Project

    • Develop a self-reliant border village
    • Promote climate-resilient infrastructure and livelihoods. 
    • Strengthen economic opportunities for local residents. 
    • Improve the quality of life in remote frontier areas. 
  • Enhance sustainable development in high-altitude regions.

Key Features:

  • Around 500 MY Bharat volunteers from across India will work with people in border areas of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Ladakh.
  •  Volunteers were chosen through an online quiz held across the country.
  • The programme has two phases:
  • First phase: 250 volunteers will visit 43 villages.
  • Second phase: 250 volunteers will cover 50 more villages.
    • It is a 7-day residential programme where volunteers stay in villages
  • They interact with local people, Panchayats, officials, and security forces
  • The goal is to understand village life, culture, development needs, and the importance of border areas.

Special Focus:

  • The programme promotes the “Nation First Challenge.”
  • Volunteers spread awareness on:
    • Using Swadeshi products
    • Healthy cooking habits
    • Using public transport and saving fuel
    • Encouraging natural farming
    • Supporting local tourism

India’s First Model Border Village

  • India has launched its first Model Border Village Project at Chumur, a remote settlement in eastern Ladakh near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China.
  • The village is situated in the Changthang region of Ladakh. 
    • Under the Vibrant Village Programme (VVP)
      • Chumur has been selected under the Vibrant Village Programme. 
  • It is the first village in Ladakh to be developed as a Model Border Village under the programme.

Significance

  • Marks a major step in India’s border area development strategy.
  • Aims to reduce migration from border villages by improving infrastructure and services. 
  • Strengthens the presence of vibrant communities in strategically important frontier regions. 
  • Serves as a model for the development of other border villages across India.
