Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan Context: To implement the 'Self-Reliant India' initiative within the maritime sector, the Indian Maritime Foundation signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in Chennai with IIT Mumbai, IIT Chennai, and the Indian Maritime University. Guided by the vision of 'Viksit Bharat 2047' (Developed India 2047), the Central Government is actively implementing the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India) initiative across various sectors. Accordingly, the Indian Maritime Foundation is undertaking efforts to execute various innovative projects within the maritime domain. About the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan The Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan is a major initiative launched with the objective of transforming India into a self-reliant nation. This scheme was launched on May 13, 2020. During the COVID-19 pandemic, an economic relief package worth ₹20 lakh crore was announced to support the nation. This initiative operates by focusing on the following five key pillars: Economy Infrastructure Systems Vibrant Demography Demand (Needs and Market) Key Objectives of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan Initiative To establish India as a Global Supply Chain Hub. To enhance the government's confidence in the capabilities and growth potential of the private sector. To create effective growth catalysts (Force Multipliers) for Indian manufacturers. To expand opportunities for exporting products such as agricultural produce, textiles, apparel, and jewellery to global markets.
