Nallakannu R. Nallakannu was born on 26 December 1925 in Srivaikundam (united Tirunelveli district) in a farming family. Joined the Communist Party of India in 1944. Political & Social Work Served as the President of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Workers Union for about 25 years. Tamil Nadu State Secretary of the Communist Party of India for 13 years. Also served as a member of the party's Central Committee and the President of the National Control Committee. Received the Ambedkar Award of the Government of Tamil Nadu in 2017. Received the “Thakaisal Tamilar” Award of the Government of Tamil Nadu in 2022.
