Ram Prasad Bismil Context: The birth anniversary (June 11) of Ram Prasad Bismil, a prominent freedom fighter and revolutionary leader, was commemorated. Notes on Ram Prasad Bismil (1897–1927) Born in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, he was deeply influenced by the principles of the Arya Samaj from a young age. Key Contributions Revolutionary Activities: He emerged as a prominent revolutionary through the 'Mainpuri Conspiracy' (1918), which involved the distribution of literature banned for propagating nationalist ideas. Founding the HRA: In 1924, he co-founded the 'Hindustan Republican Association' (HRA) alongside Sachindranath Sanyal and others; this organization was later known as the 'Hindustan Socialist Republican Association' (HSRA). Kakori Conspiracy (1925): He planned and led the Kakori train robbery. Prison Protest: While incarcerated, Bismil and his associates undertook a hunger strike to demand recognition as political prisoners and to protest against the harsh conditions within the prison. Literary Work: He composed patriotic songs in Hindi and Urdu under pseudonyms such as Bismil, Ram, and Agyat. Sacrifice: Following a controversial trial regarding the Kakori case, he was executed by hanging on December 19, 1927.
