Singappen Special Force Context: The Singappen Special Force (SSF) was launched by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister in Chennai. It is aimed at preventing crimes against women through proactive policing. The force has been launched with 280 personnel operating through 70 patrol units. An amount of ₹354 crore has been earmarked for the first phase of the project. Advanced Technology and Equipment SSF personnel will be equipped with: Advanced surveillance drones. Four-wheeler and two-wheeler patrol vehicles. Body-worn cameras with live-streaming and video-call facilities. Key Features The force focuses on preventive policing, aiming to stop crimes before they occur. Drone patrolling for women's safety is being introduced for the first time in India. Objective To strengthen women's security through technology-driven surveillance and rapid response mechanisms. To create a safer environment for women across Tamil Nadu.
