Initiatives/ Scheme Tamil Nadu’s CMCHIS Expands Access to High-End Medical Procedures Context: Over 18,000 patients have undergone high-end medical procedures under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS). Eight high-end procedures are covered, including kidney, liver, heart, lung transplants, cochlear implants, auditory brainstem implants, and bone marrow/stem cell transplants. Renal transplants benefited the highest number of patients (6,524), followed by cochlear implants (6,276).   Chief Minister Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme Families with Rs.1.20 lakh annual income will be eligible. History and culture Keezhadi Excavation The Central Government has granted permission for the 11th phase of archaeological excavations in Keezhadi, Sivaganga district. This permission was granted after the Tamil Nadu State Department of Archaeology submitted the report of the 10th phase of excavations to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). So far, only about 4% of the Keezhadi site has been excavated. The 11th phase of excavation aims to uncover new information about the ancient civilization that flourished on the banks of the Vaigai River. Through scientific studies and carbon dating methods, the artifacts found in Keezhadi have been proven to belong to the period between the 6th and 3rd centuries BCE. Keezhadi It is located in the Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu, on the banks of the Vaigai River, approximately 12 km southeast of Madurai. Archaeological excavations were started in 2015 under the leadership of Amarnath Ramakrishna. The first three excavations were conducted by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Subsequently, the work was undertaken by the Tamil Nadu State Department of Archaeology.
