Adi Shankara was the foremost philosopher of Advaita Vedanta, emphasizing the oneness of the individual soul (Atman) and the ultimate reality (Brahman). He was born in Kalady, Kerala, to parents Aryamba and Shivaguru. He revived and consolidated Sanatana Dharma through his teachings based on the Vedas and Upanishads. He preached concepts such as the Atman, Paramatman, Vairagya (renunciation), and Moksha (liberation).
