World Thrift Day Every year, October 30 is observed as World Thrift Day World Savings Day. In 1924, during the World Society of Savings Banks Conference held in Milan, Italy, October 31 was declared as World Thrift Day. In 1984, our country's former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated on October 31, so October 30 is celebrated as World Thrift Day in India. The main objective of this day is to educate people about savings and thrift.
