  • World Tourism Day is observed on 27 November every year to promote the importance of tourism across the world and to make people aware of the fun and joy associated with travel
  • The day was first observed in  1979 by the World Tourism Organization.
  • Theme 2023: “Tourism and Green Investments”.

Three anti-submarine warfare ships launched

    • The first three of a series of eight anti-submarine warfare shallow water crafts
      being built by Cochin Shipyard Ltd. for the Navy were launched.
  • The ships were named INS Mahe, INS Malvan and INS Mangrol

World Summits and Organisation

Day One of COP-28 summit

  • COP 28 Summit is being held in Dubai from 30 November until 12 December 2023.
  • The Loss and Damage Fund was cleared on day one of COP28 summit.
  • The Fund is meant to compensate countries dealing with effects of climate change and gets commitments of nearly $250 million.
  • All developing countries are eligible to apply for the Fund and every country has been ‘invited’ to contribute to it
