International Day of Non-violence – October 2

  • The birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi is observed as the International Day of Non-violence.
  • The day was established on 15 June 2007 by United Nations General Assembly resolution.
  • Theme 2023 – “Embrace Diversity, Unite around Common Humanity to Overcome Rising Tensions, Create More Peaceful World”

Awards and Honour

National Service Scheme Awards for the year 2021-2022

  • The President of India, Droupadi Murmu presented the National Service Scheme (NSS) Awards for the year 2021-2022 at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
  • The award was given to 52 persons to recognize their outstanding contributions towards voluntary community social service.
  • It was awarded under 3 different categories – University/ +2 Council, NSS Units and their Programme Officers and NSS Volunteers.

About NSS Awards

  • Instituted by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
  • Presented every year to the NSS Volunteers, Programme Officers, NSS Units and the Universities/+2 Councils to recognize their voluntary service.
