Centre launched Aarogya Setu IVRS for non-smart phones in collaboration with TN govt and IIT-Madras

After the launch of Aarogya Setu app to tackle COVID-19 impact, now Centre government in partnership with Tamil Nadu (TN) government and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has launched its complementary initiative named “Aarogya Setu Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS)”. It is launched by TN Chief Minister (CM) Edappadi Karuppa Palaniswami and Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Ravi Shankar Prasad. The basic difference between both apps is that Aarogya Setu is for smartphones while IVRS is its helpline version for non-smart phones. The Aarogya Setu IVRS or IVRS COVID-19 helpline number is 9499912345. Currently, this is available only in Tamil Nadu. Other states will also launch the initiative soon. About Arogya Setu IVRS Arogya Setu and Arogya Setu IVRS will run in combination to help affected and those with symptoms of coronavirus. The IVRS facility will get activated after giving a missed call and location identification. After that the caller will be provided with options for assistance, healtcare and guidance like Aarogya Setu app, which connects health services with the people of the country to fight against the menace of coronavirus.

IIT-Madras to organize India’s1stGlobal Hyperloop Pod Competition

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madraswill organize India’s 1stGlobal Hyperloop Pod Competition named as ‘Indian Hyperloop Pod Competition’, to increase the awareness & enthusiasm about Hyperloop in India. The competition aims to encourage student teams in India & abroad to develop a Hyperloop Pod & compete to construct the fastest, highly innovative, effective design & also prototypes of related technologies. The final round to take place in the IIT-Madras campus in July 2020. On March 14, 2020, IIT-Madras launched Career Back 2 Women (CB2 Women)  initiative through its “Digital Skills Academy ” to skill women who want to return to a technical profession after a break in their career. What is Hyperloop Pod? Hyperloop is the 5th transportation mode, a high-speedtrain that travels in a vacuum tube. It is a sealed pipe where a pod can travel on reduced air resistance or friction. While being very efficient, the reduced air resistance allows the capsule within the tube to reach speeds of up to 1000 km/h conveying people or objects at high speed. SpaceX & Tesla’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO)Elon Musk proposed the idea of Hyperloop to the world in 2013 through a white paper “Hyperloop Alpha.” India to be in lockdown for 21 days from 25 March 2020 Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the complete lockdown of the entire nation, as part of government’s stringent efforts to tackle coronavirus disease Covid-19. The entire country will be under lockdown from 25 March 2020 for 21 days. According to health experts, at least 21 days time is very important to break the coronavirus infection cycle.

The drone system developed by Indian Institute of Technology Madras' researchers will prove to be invaluable to law enforcement agencies, security services and armed forces as it will allow them to secure air space over critical civilian and military installations from surveillance by rogue drones.

IIT-Madras extends training labs to 20 rural schools

“1 Lab - 1 School”, a rural mentorship programmefrom the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M), does by letting high school students dismantle and reassemble the appliances on their own. The program connects top graduate laboratories of premier institutes to high schools in rural areas, and aims to empower rural communities by addressing barriers to digital inclusion. Q&A sessions, demonstration-based lectures, etc. are some of the other learning activities in the training. Expansion to 15 more schools is aimed for next year.

IIT Madras to showcase NextGen technologies at DefExpo 2020

Indian Institute of Technology Madras willshowcase next-generation technologies, during DefExpo 2020, the biennial defence exhibition at Lucknow. According to a press release issued by the institute, the fest will cover the complete spectrum of the country’s aerospace, defence and security interests. The DefExpo 2020 will be held from February 5 to 9, 2020, in Lucknow. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate India’s five-day biennial mega defence exhibition. IIT Madras is the ‘Knowledge Partner’ of Tamil Nadu Defence Corridor and will form part of the TIDCO (Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation) Pavilion in the Expo.
