Declare Eastern Ghats UNESCO cultural heritage sites, say environmental groups

All the historically and culturally significant  mountains of the Eastern Ghats should be declared UNESCO cultural heritage sites, and the five States that the Ghats encompass – Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Odisha  should prepare an action plan to protect and conserve their ecology and natural resources, the Greens’ Alliance for Conservation of Eastern Ghats (GRACE) and the Council for Green Revolution (CGR).

Rajasthan world heritage site certificate, UNESCO, Walled City of Jaipur will dedicate the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation world heritage site certificate for Jaipur to the people at a function to organize at historical Albert Hall. UNESCO declared the Walled City of Jaipur world heritage site which is famous for its grid plan-based architecture and buildings constructed with the pink façade.

UNESCO removes ‘Carnival of Aalst’ from Intangible CulturalHeritage List

UNESCO(United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), has removed the ‘Carnival of Aalst’ of Belgium from its Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity List. The 2019 carnival featured a parade float that included racist and anti-Semitic representations which mocked the Orthodox Jews. The carnival was added to the Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2010. Key Points: The carnival of Aalst is a three day festival that is held annually in the Belgium city of Aalst, it is celebrated in the days preceding Ash Wednesday. It was recognized by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. UNESCO to train 4,000 Indian teachers in AI-powered Digital Technology

UNESCO and Dell Technologies will launch a new education programme where they will train 4,000 Indian teachers in Artificial Technology. The programme will aid in GoI step of introducing Artificial Intelligence as a subject in school. Highlights The programme will be spread across three phases. In the first phase, teachers in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnatakawill be trained. The organizations will use technologies like FramerSpace, frontier technologies and ICT to train the teachers. FramerSpace is a digital platform that will help teachers implement and monitor learning plans for students. Teachers who are certified in Dell’s Aarambh programmes are to be given preferences.
